Now, a free specialized career counselling service will be offered to the spouses of foreign specialists coming to Estonia.

More and more specialists are coming to Estonia every year, and a great number of them are joined by their families and spouses, many of which are highly qualified and would also like to continue their career in Estonia. While this might prove challenging due to the lack of professional networks and peculiarities of the local labour market, there is a service that helps orientate and counsel spouses that are looking to continue their career paths in Estonia.

Thus, a specialized unit in the Unemployment Insurance Fund will further develop and provide an International career counselling service for the spouses of foreign specialists. In this way, International spouses can get specialized support and counselling if they wish to access the Estonian labour market.

The counselling service approach is personal and focused on the background, skills and interests of the individual. Topics covered in the counselling include:

+ Overview of the labour market, areas of interest and generalities on how look for a job in Estonia
+ Review of qualifications, skills and need of further training, as well as options available.
+ Support in drafting activities and plans to improve chances on finding a job in Estonia.

The international spouse career counselling would even be available on a pre-arrival basis, where the spouses of foreign specialists that are planning to come to Estonia can already have their first career counselling session via Skype! The service is offered in English and Russian.

To register for the service please call 15501 or 634 8000. With an ID card of Mobile ID it is possible to register online to the self-service portal of Töötukassa. When registering, please mention that you are a spouse of international specialist.
